CSAV takes in 3rd 8,600 TEU reefer ship chartered from Zodiac

CSAV has taken in charge the CSAV Trancura, the third of four high reefer capacity wide beam neo-panamaxes of 8,600 TEU that were ordered from the Daewooo (DMHI) shipyard in Mangalia, Romania, in April 2011.

The vessels were chartered by CSAV from Zodiac Maritime for a period of eight years. However, the ownership of the CSAV Trancura was transferred later to Eastern Pacific (EP) Shipping, under ship reallocation arrangements within Ofer family controlled companies.

The vessel will sail from Spain to China with empties for Maersk account, after which she is expected to join the Far East-West Coast South America (ACSA 1/ANDEX 1) service operated by MSC, CMA CGM and CSAV with CSCL as slot buyer, Alphaliner reported.

The CSAV Trancura, follows the CSAV Toconao, delivered in June, and the CSAV Traiguen, delivered in September 2013. The last ship, CSAV Tyndall, is due by March 2014.

These 8,600 TEU ships are fitted with 1,000 reefer plugs. CSAV placed in April 2013 an order for seven 9,300 TEU ships from Samsung. These vessels, which will be fully owned by CSAV, will be delivered from December 2014 onwards.
