NEW YORK-listed Textainer, the world's biggest container lessor, has announced that its fleet size has surpassed the three million TEU mark.
"If laid end-to-end, our containers would stretch from Los Angeles to Tokyo and back," said Textainer president and CEO Philip Brewer. "We are very proud to be the first leasing company to reach three million TEU."
Mr Brewer said fleet size was key to achieving economies of scale critical to the business.
"We are where we are today because we take full advantage of our size and reach. This enables us to offer customers the equipment they need, where they need it and on competitive terms," he said.
Said Textainer equipment management chief Robert Pedersen: "We celebrate this significant achievement with our loyal customer base and dedicated employees."
Textainer Group Holdings Limited has operated since 1979 and has more than two million containers, or a three million-TEU owned and managed fleet.
