Asia-Europe
Three container lines hope to implement rate increases on Dec. 15:
- CMA CGM plans to increase rates on its trade from Asia to Europe by $750 per TEU.
- Similarly, ANL intends to hike rates on cargo from Asia, including Southeast Asia, Japan and Bangladesh, to North Europe, including the U.K. and the full range from Portugal to Russia, by $750 per TEU.
- Mediterranean Shipping Co. will attempt to elevate rates on its trade from Asia, excluding Japan, to the eastern Mediterranean, the Black Sea, North Africa, the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic, North Europe, the U.K., Scandinavia and the Baltic by $775 per TEU. For shipments to Syria, the hike will be €600 per TEU.
- MSC also hopes to increase rates on cargo from Chittagong, Bangladesh, to North Africa, the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic, North Europe, the U.K., Scandinavia and the Baltic by $300 per TEU.
On Dec. 16, Hapag-Lloyd intends to hike rates on its westbound trade from East Asia, excluding Japan, to Europe by $750 per TEU.
Asia-Africa
MSC intends to implement a rate increase of $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container on its trade from the Far East to West Africa, including Angola, starting Dec. 15.
Intra-Asia
Starting Dec. 1, Hapag-Lloyd intends to implement a rate increase of $100 per TEU on cargo from East Asia, excluding Japan, to the Indian subcontinent.
On the same date, CMA CGM hopes to raise rates by $100 per TEU on its trade from Asia, excluding Japan, to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West India.
Three carriers have also planned rate increases of $200 per TEU that will take effect on Dec. 1 and Dec. 15:
- CMA CGM intends to implement the rate hike on its trade from Asia, excluding Japan, to the Middle East.
- Cosco Container Lines aims to implement this increase on its shipments from the Far East to the Persian Gulf.
- CMA CGM also aims to put the rate hike in effect on its trade from Asia, including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh, to the Red Sea. Furthermore, the container line intends to hike rates on this trade by $300 per TEU, effective Jan. 1, 2014.
- Similarly, Hapag-Lloyd hopes to put this rate hike in place on its trade from East Asia, excluding Japan, to the Persian Gulf, and aims to hike rates on this trade by $300 per TEU on Jan. 1, 2014.
Asia-Latin America
Maersk Line intends to increase rates, starting today, on shipments from the Far East to South America’s east coast, excluding Vitoria and Manaus, Brazil, by $650 per 20-foot container and $1,300 per 40-foot and 45-foot container. For shipments from the Far East to Vitoria and Manaus, Brazil, the hike will be $400 per 20-foot container and $800 per 40-foot and 45-foot container.
Four carriers have also planned rate hikes for Dec. 1:
- Maersk Line plans to increase rates on its trade from the Far East to Latin America. For shipments to the Dominican Republic; Haiti; Jamaica; Venezuela; Trinidad and Tobago; Panama; Puerto Rico; and San Marta, Baranquilla and Cartagena, Colombia, the hike will be $700 per 20-foot container and $1,000 per 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube container. For shipments to Chile; Ecuador; Mexico; Peru; Costa Rica; El Salvador; Guatemala; Honduras; Nicaragua; Bolivia; and Buenaventura, Colombia, the hike will be $500 per 20-foot container and 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube container.
- Hapag-Lloyd aims to implement a rate increase of $650 per TEU on cargo from East Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to South America’s east coast.
- Cosco intends to raise rates on its trade from the Far East and Indian subcontinent to Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Costa Rica and Cuba by $700 per 20-foot container and $1,000 per 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube container.
North America-South America
Hamburg Süd hopes to implement a rate increase on all cargo moving southbound from or via the U.S. East Coast to Cartagena, Colombia, by $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container.
